Last summer I got a chance to cross off an item from the old proverbial bucket list. I tried my hand at stand-up comedy and pretty much had a blast. I’m not sure why I never shared the video but I’ve been looking into giving it another try and thought it might be worth posting. Apologies for the video quality, if I do it again I will try to get a better recording.
I am a husband and a dad of two little girls. I am a lone Y chromosome and am already planning my escape strategy to deal with the estrogen flood that is on its way. People say there is a lot of joy to be found in the simple things and I have found they can provide a healthy dose of anti-awesome as well. I am, in general, a pretty optimistic guy and needed a bit of a creative outlet; so here it is. Thanks for stopping by.

That was brilliant, you should definitely continue with stand up comedy and I will definitely be using that technique next year for valentines. Absolutely brilliant idea.
DUDE. That was really good. Was that your first go around? If so… now I am REALLY never attempting stand up. You seemed very cool and collected. My favorite part was boat shoes and the stick figure dad being way over on the other side. But seriously, it was all good!
Stand up comedy is an odd thing, for you are expected to do just that – stand up and make a dark room of people laugh. This says a lot about the human condition. We are all so miserable that we yearn to laugh, yet the only way we can make others laugh is to do so without being able to see them. What a sad thing it is, that we are all so afraid of one another.
If they made a movie about my life, the actor to play me would be whoever is best at walking around the house turning lights off.

Very well done. I don’t think I have it in me to do stand-up, and for a first time- that was amazing.
